About Me: Hello! My name's Jay. I'm 24, I'm from North London and in my spare time I write and sing silly songs. It all started back in February 2005, when I was a student at the University of York. I needed a money-raising project to pay for a hitch-hiking trip to Morocco and making a CD seemed like the best idea at the time, cos everyone at open mic night seemed to like my funny songs. I thought maybe some people would buy them. My first CD sold considerably more than I'd imagined (100 within the first month) and my song "Moon Chavs" became an unofficial college anthem - I was the "Moon chavs guy". Over the next academic weeks and months, I let it get to my head. I became "artist of the month" in a local competition, I did many a successful open mic night on campus and around the country, selling more and more CDs. After the first CD, I recorded two more and started taking gigs more seriously. In August 2007, I did a show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe called "20 Songs for Free". The BBC came to see it and they liked it so much, they made this video: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dlPOYZP-MqY Now that I've graduated and come to the conclusion that I won't enjoy the big wide world of work, I'm trying to get as many gigs as possible and see if it can pay for a flat for me to live in. Hope you enjoy!

jbf500's Profile

Looking for representation: I am very interested in getting representation and becoming a full time comedian. I have lots of gig experience from uni and my Edinburgh Fringe show in 2007, and I'm currently a resident at a fortnightly comedy night in Camden called 'If It Bleeds We Can Kill It.' I have so far sold more than a thousand CDs of my material at uni and at gigs. One of my songs 'Moon Chavs' has become popular on the internet, with more than a hundred copycat videos currently uploaded to Youtube. I was approached by Nuts TV to play the song on their programme. Another of my songs, 'Stealing Food' has been covered by comedy veterens Kit and the Widow. I'm told they still play it in their live shows. (and I've never seen a penny!) If you're interested in getting my songs out there and helping me get more gigs, please contact me.
